For the first time since Far Cry 3, Ubisoft has injected authentic full co-op into a Far Cry game. While co-op didn’t take center stage during any of the marketing leading up to the release of its most recent titles, this was no accident. Yara (Ubisoft’s community manager) confirmed that the team behind Far Cry 6 had run several tests with Fallout 76’s developers before they made their decision:
The ability to play with your friends has always been a mainstay in the Far Cry series since Far Cry 3. Versus multiplayer and co-op were separate modes in their past games released, though they have slowly been intertwining the last few entries, mostly in spin-off games like Blood Dragon and Primal. Far Cry 5 allowed for full drop-in, drop-out co-op for the first time in the series and that is the same for Far Cry 6.
Earlier this year, Ubisoft announced that Far Cry 6 co op would have a 4-player co-op campaign. Nearly a month after the game’s release, information on the co-op activities is still trickling out. In fact, fans who pre-ordered the game or purchased the $80 season pass will be able to play new co-op missions on June 5.
Far Cry 6 co-op Campaign
Far Cry 6, the next entry in Ubisoft’s open world shooter series, will have an online co-op story mode. In a live-stream event, the developer announced that players can play the entire main campaign and all the side content with a friend. Co-op is enabled from the end of the mission “Du or Die” which is one of the first quests in the game.
The multiplayer in ‘Far Cry 5’ will be fully drop-in, drop-out. This means that you can hop into a friend’s game whenever you want and leave when it suits you. Your inventory and Guerrilla Experience will carry with you throughout sessions.
In a game like Battlefield 4, you are allowed to choose from four main class types. They include Assault, Engineer, Recon, and Support. Each one enables you to play the game differently and fills a different role on your team. They are very important in order to help you progress through the ranks during online multiplayer. But what if there was an even more powerful option? What if you could play a Special Operation that is only available in co-op mode? Well now you can!
Co-op is a new feature added in South Park: The Fractured But Whole. Co-op allows the player to play alongside a partner through combat, exploration and puzzle solving. This is an entirely new experience to our game. When playing Co-op you don’t have to worry about stats or inventory management. This mode is entirely for fun and no trophies are associated with the mode.
That covers the Far Cry 6 co-op campaign. There are obviously side missions to complete just as in any other open-world game, but overall it’s an enjoyable experience that should take you anywhere between 10-15 hours at best to explore everything it has to offer.
